Dr. Charles A. Sims of California Cryobank’s FamilyCord Named to National Stem Cell Advisory Council

Los Angeles, January 23, 2008 – FamilyCord, a subsidiary of California Cryobank, today announced that its co-founder and medical director Charles A. Sims, MD, has been appointed to the Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Advisory Council on Blood Stem Cell Transplantation (ACBSCT). Through his appointment, Dr. Sims will represent the Association of Family Cord Blood Banks (AFCBB), an organization representing the family cord blood banking industry that advocates matters of public policy, regulation and the development of industry standards by accrediting organizations. Free Car Seat Installation and Cord Blood Banking 101

Several times a year, FamilyCord invites local expectant families to a FREE Infant CPR training and certification course. We also offer a brief intro to Cord Blood Banking and a tour of our state-of-the-art facility. If you are interested in attending, please reserve your spot by calling 888-828-CORD (2673).

 

Public Donation Option

FamilyCord offers a Public Donation Option program for clients who, after 10 years of storage, wish to offer their child's cord blood stem cells to a donation registry. If the unit is chosen and released for transplant, the client may be refunded some or all of the fees paid for processing and storage of the cord blood.  For more information on our Public Donation Option, visit our Public Donation section or contact a cord blood educator at 800-490-CORD (2673).
