RECOGNIZED LEADER IN CORD BLOOD BANKING
RENAMED FAMILY CORD BLOOD SERVICES
Los Angeles (April 15, 2005) – California Cryobank Stem Cell Services, Inc., an umbilical cord blood processing and storage company, and division of one of the largest and oldest reproductive tissue banks in the world, California Cryobank, Inc., announced today that effective April 22, 2005, it will be renamed Family Cord Blood Services.
According to Kaj Rydman, President of Family Cord Blood Services, "The decision to change our name was prompted by our many clients who told us that their experience with us made them feel like they were banking their most precious possession with 'a member of the family.' We place great value in that relationship and the trust that we have earned. As such, we felt that our name should better reflect our core mission and commitment to our families."
While cord blood stem cells can be used without a perfect biological match, when used by the baby, it is always a 100 percent match, and there is a strong likelihood it will be a match for the child's siblings. With the growing awareness that cord blood stem cell transplantation is a proven treatment in more than 50 malignant and non-malignant diseases including certain cancers, lymphoma, leukemia, diabetes and spinal injuries, cord blood banking is rapidly becoming the norm. Family Cord Blood Services is poised to lead the charge.
