Santa Monica, CA (April 18, 2005) – FamilyCord has found a creative way to increase awareness of cord blood banking by distributing colorful wristbands with a positive message.

FamilyCord chose to pass out red wristbands stating "Cord Blood Saves Lives" to let families know about an important service they may have never heard of or considered.

"Raising awareness about cord blood banking is very important," said Kaj Rydman, President of FamilyCord. "There is only a one-time opportunity to collect cord blood when a baby is born, so it is important that the expectant parents are aware of all the options."

The company hopes that when people wear the red message wristband in public, it will spark the interest of others and lead family and friends to the Web site to learn more about cord blood banking.

"When people wear the red wristbands, they are showing others that they passionately believe in cord blood banking and what it can do to save lives," Rydman said.
