CordBancUSA and FamilyCord Agreement
CordBancUSA Clients,
We would like to provide you with an update about your cord blood stem cells. The California Department of Public Health and CordBancUSA have agreed to transfer the cord blood stem cell units from CordBancUSA to FamilyCord to provide ongoing storage.
FamilyCord, a fully licensed and accredited cord blood bank established in 1997, will honor any years that have already been prepaid, your current contract will remain in effect and you will receive services at the same terms as your original CordBancUSA agreement. For clients who pay on a year-to-year basis, the billing of the annual storage fee will be charged by FamilyCord on the birth month of your child.
What will this mean for my child's cord blood stem cells?
All cord blood stem cells at CordBancUSA were safely transferred to FamilyCord's facility in Los Angeles by a cryogenic shipping specialist on August 1, 2011. All units will be stored at the state-of-the-art facility that offers a 6,000 gallon nitrogen tank, backup electrical generator, and a 24-hour monitoring system to ensure the safety of your cord blood stem cells.
Should a medical need arise for your family, you will have full access to the cord blood stem cells.
Why is this change being made?
CordBancUSA made this change to achieve full compliance with California Department of Public Health regulatory requirements for cord blood stem cell services and to ensure the safety of the units.
FamilyCord is in compliance with California Department of Public Health and FDA regulations, and is accredited by the AABB (American Association of Blood Banks). California Cryobank, the parent company, was founded in 1977 and continues to operate under original ownership. Additionally, FamilyCord has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau.
