FamilyCord was founded in 1997 as a subsidiary of the California Cryobank. FamilyCord utilizes cryogenic technology to store cord blood stem cells to safeguard the future health of its clients.

California Cryobank has been providing cryogenic services since 1977 when it was founded by Dr. Charles Sims and Dr. Cappy Rothman. Established over 30 years ago, CCB has a reputation for quality and caring that has made it globally respected and the foremost expert in tissue storage, serving all 50 states and more than 30 countries worldwide.

FamilyCord strengths include its deep understanding of laboratory processing and cryogenic storage provided by Eddie Jacildo, DLM, MT, CLS, along with the stem cell transplant expertise of Dr. Michael Lill. FamilyCord was the first private cord blood bank in California and is FDA registered, AABB accredited, and CLIA certified.

The President of FamilyCord, Richard Jennings, has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the biomedical and healthcare fields to the FamilyCord team and has provided strategic leadership that has made FamilyCord one of the fastest growing cord banks in the United States.

Today FamilyCord is a recognized leader in cord blood stem cells collection, processing and storage. In 2009, FamilyCord expanded operations in New York through the acquisition of Park Avenue Fertility and also acquired Vista Cord in the Southeastern United States. Additionally, the California Cryobank Stem Cell Services provides institutional stem cell storage and processing services for Hematopoietic Progenitor Cell (HPC) stem cells. Personal accounts are available for both umbilical cord stem cells and peripheral blood stem cells at family friendly pricing.
